Project Summary:
This greenfields site required an integrated entertainment, information and communication system for a large, remote construction camp. An imperative was the provision of a scalable solution that will efficiently and inexpensively grow and contract to meet the fluctuating needs of the construction phase through to operations phase. Further considerations are employee attraction and retention, especially for such a large workforce, and an effective communication solution into a larger legacy system.

Scope of Work:
Swift Networks was contracted to provide end to end services for a turn key solution providing integrated Digital Services “in-room” throughout the camp including:

Foxtel and free to air television services with electronic program guide
Free to air radio services
Video On Demand (including movies, training & custom industry content)
VoIP telephony (with capped and integrated billing)
2 levels of Internet access – via television and PC access
Messaging system to provide room to room and “whole of camp” messaging
Emergency Warning System Integration
Customised Static and Dynamic Content including integration of client’s corporate branding throughout
Ongoing network management and support
Project and network design, engineering and project management

Challenges:

The required solution had to be economically scalable up to 1,600 rooms
No permanent power to site
Remote and isolated location
Need for ruggedized network equipment

Key Outcomes:
The project was delivered on time and on budget and deemed an overall success. This site continues to grow and Swift Networks is developing additional customisable content and applications for the client and camp management.
