Project Summary:
Faced with an increasingly competitive labour market the client required a pilot in-room Digital Entertainment System to provide better leisure and communication facilites for employees and improve staff retention. The aim was to deliver a user experience to exceed that which the user would have available at home.

Scope of Work:
Swift Networks provided integrated Digital Services “in-room” throughout the camp including:

Foxtel and free to air television services with electronic program guide
Free to air radio services
Movies On Demand
VoIP telephony (with capped and integrated billing)
2 levels of Internet access – via television and PC access
Messaging system to provide room to room and “whole of camp” messaging
Emergency Warning System Integration
Customised Static and Dynamic Content including integration of client’s corporate branding throughout
Total project design, engineering and project management
Network management and support

Challenges:

Remote location and harsh climatic conditions requiring ruggedized network equipment
Utilisation of existing infrastructure in “brownfields” site
Development of unique billing model

Key Outcomes:
The project was delivered on time and on budget and deemed an overall success. As a result of this successful pilot, the customer now plans to make Swift Networks’ digital entertainment system the standard for all new camps and is also reviewing all services at existing towns and camps.
